The reason we ask for billing information is to prevent users from abusing our free trial offer as it’s the only way to validate honest users against users who repeatedly signup with false account information. In the past we had people signing up multiple times for our free trial falsifying their names, email addresses, etc. It hurts our members more than us. It is unfair when their competitor obtains access to our site for free, while our TRUE customers pay for it.
Therefore, we instituted this Fraud Prevention method whereby the credit card billing company authenticates the individual signing up.
